Butane is predominantly stored in blue LPG cylinders / bottles, in a range of sizes.
Butane has a far higher boiling point than propane which means it is only suitable for outdoor use during milder months. Butane cylinders can be used indoors making them ideal for portable heater appliances used internally.
Butane is mainly used for internal portable heaters, barbecuing, and caravanning.
Propane is predominantly stored in red LPG cylinders / bottles in a range of sizes and bulk storage tanks.
Propane burns hotter than butane which means it is more suitable for outdoor use during colder months, and can be used all year round.
Propane is used for bulk storage tanks, but can also be used for internal portable heaters, patio heaters, barbecuing, and caravanning, however we recommend that you consult your appliance instructions before use.
